My first post. In about 6 weeks it will be the first anniversary of my husbands sudden and unexpected death. I'm doing well - anyone will tell you! Had so much to do but i got thru it. I suffer from poor health which frightens me as I'm living alone but - I'm managing. Now I am financially secure, have supportive sons etc. BUT when i look to my new 'bright' future all I can see is a big black hole in the middle of everything. Will this pass? Help me please.

    Hi Valsie,

I am sorry to read of your husband’s sudden death and it is really great that you have a supportive family. There is no timescale to mourning and grief. You may be particularly affected on and near significant anniversaries for many years. Some people find it helpful to plan in advance what they are going to do on those days, to avoid feeling left alone with their emotions. There is no right or wrong way to mark these anniversaries; it is about doing something that feels right for you.  The grief and pain you feel should lessen over time and you will be able to adapt and adjust to allow yourself to enjoy life again. If you would like to talk to us you can call the Support Line on 0800 090 2309.
