I have a fiance who has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that spread in his lungs, kidney, and even to his brain and is fighting for his life now, he is confined in the hospital now and he wants to see me but I'm in the Philippines as of the moment. I want to apply for a tourist visa from my country but I'm afraid that we will be refused as we haven't met personally yet but have been communicating online for more than a year now to see him until his final moments and will go back home after a month. Any advice on what we should do?

    Hello Celine,

Thank you for joining our Online community.

We’re sorry to hear about your fiancé’s cancer diagnosis and all that you are both going through. It’s understandable that you wish to be with him at this time. Unfortunately, we don’t have any information or guidance about applying for a tourist visa. Have you spoken to your embassy? The UK government website has guidance on visitor’s visa’s including eligibility and how to apply that may be helpful to you - https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/apply

Does anybody on the community have any experience of this that you can share with Celine?

Please do come back and let us know how you get on, and if you need a safe space to talk then the community is here for you.

    Take care,
