Hi all.

My mum in law lost her 1st leg last nov, she was also told she had lung cancer. Last christmas day she lost her 2nd leg in a life saving operation and has kidney cancer, she is very poorly indeed. She is totally confined to her living room, councill had sent forms off to wrong dept so housing is an issue for them both, he is doing all the lifting, cleaning and care taking, her fiancee is doing ALL the caring himself. I dont know what to do to help her situation, I would also love her to be able to access respite with total disabled accommodation as her partner is lifting and carrying her and they are both over 60. some disabled tiolets are not fit for purpose. Does any one know what there is out there to help make her last few weeks/months happy and for her partner to enjoy their time together. Thanks in advance . nurseniki xx

A respite break normally allows the carer to take a break away from the person they are caring for, if this is the case then I would suggest contacting adult social services via your local council. If you are looking more for a holiday for them then I would suggest contacting Turn2Us (https://www.turn2us.org.uk/?gclid=CO-EgIGY1dACFQ5sGwodsAgKtQ) and they may be able to put you in touch with a grant giving charity that could assist. You may also wish to contact the HoneyRose Foundation who grant special wishes to people living with a terminal illness, http://www.honeyrosefoundation.org.uk/
