Hi I am new to this site .... in summer 2023 I had a very serious and traumatic accident with mutiple injuries ... I am not improving, I am very fearful of dying, and am I experiencing huge waves of fear which I can't control. Has anyone felt the same and if so, how is it best to cope?

    Hi Rosie4Mary,

Welcome to the Marie Curie Online Community. We are sorry to hear about your accident and the difficult experience you're going through. Coping with fear and worrying about dying can be incredibly challenging to cope with and can feel overwhelming. If fear about dying is affecting your life, you may want to consider talking to your GP about this. They might suggest speaking with someone or discuss a referral for counselling with you.

The Mental Health Foundation charity has information about anxiety and fear and has some tips on ways to cope:

At Marie Curie, we are here to support anyone affected by a terminal condition and our Support Line team can offer emotional support as well as help answer practical questions. If you're affected by this and need to talk, we are here for you. Our number is Freephone 0800 090 2309 or you can reach us through webchat at www.mariecurie.org.uk

If you are terminally ill then we have information and resources on our website about coping with a terminal diagnosis:

If you're not affected by a terminal illness and would like details of other organisations who might help, let our Support Line team know and we can help you by offering relevant signposting to places for more support.

    Take care,

    David - Support Line Officer
