My sister's husband was diagnosed with cancer a month or so ago and has gone down hill very quickly. He is being cared for at home by my sister and he hasn't eaten for the last 3 days. She doesn't seem to be getting any support from his doctor and has had occasional visits from macmillan nurses who arranged a hospital bed. She feels totally abandoned and believes her husband isn't getting the help and support he needs or deserves. Where can can she turn to for support? She is totally devastated.

    Hello Mack,

    Welcome to the Online Community.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother-in-law's diagnosis and all that you are experiencing as a family. It's understandable that your sister would like the best care and support for her husband during this difficult time.

We have some information on our website that you may find helpful to read about getting nursing and personal care for people who are choosing to be cared for at home. You can find this here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/terminal-illness/care-needs/nursing-and-personal-care

We hope others will see your message and share some insights from their experiences.

    Take care,

    Hannah - Support Line Officer
