My mum's chemo was stopped 2 weeks ago. The outlook for the future isn't good. I'm trying to be strong but I'm really struggling. I'm not sleeping and some days I feel like my heads going to explode. My dad talking about the practical side of things funeral plans and us looking after her long term. I'm really struggling - I'm signed off work and can't keep it together.

    Hi Ekir,

I am sorry to read that mum’s chemo has stopped and the impact of that. This news, even if has been expected, can come as a shock and change our perception of the future. Many people struggle to cope when faced with uncertainty. It is really brave that you have reached out for support and talking about your situation may well help you to process your thoughts and feelings. You say that you have been signed off of work and I am wondering if you were able to open and honest with your GP about your thoughts and feelings? If so what support have they offered you?

We have information on the website that looks at the dealing with the different feelings that family members and carer’s may experience. You can find it here .If you would like to talk about things in more detail please call our Free phone Support Line on 0800 090 2309, or drop us a line via Web Chat https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/marie-curie-support-line
