My relative has been placed on a syringe driver and i have been advised that I cannot leave them on their own.  We all are in the same home but I am back at work soon.

Has anyone else been advised of this?

    Hello looplou,

Welcome to our online community, we hope that others here will be able to share their experiences of supporting a relative with you.

We just wanted to let you know that here on the Support Line we have Information and Support Nurses that you can talk to if you have any clinical questions. If you feel that you would find it helpful to chat with one of them about your family’s situation and syringe drivers in particular you can do so by calling us on Freephone 0800 090 2309 and ask to speak with a nurse. They are available Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.

While there isn’t a direct answer to your question on our website, we do feature information about syringe drivers that you may also find useful here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/terminal-illness/medication-pain-relief/syringe-drivers .

Our Support Line is also available to offer practical information and emotional support to you and your family. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and on a Saturday 11am to 5pm. You can reach us on the telephone number above, through online chat, https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/marie-curie-support-line/using-online-chat or chat to us here on the community.

    Take care,

    Clare – Support Line Officer
