    Hello everyone

We just wanted to send a message to you all to say that whatever your circumstances, we hope that you managed to have a peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Here at the Support Line we have been especially busy over the festive period and 2019 looks set for this to continue. While it can be natural to feel uncertain or anxious about reaching out for support for the first time, we’re glad to see that so many people have done so and continue to come to us for information and support. Peer support from others who have been in the same situation and are willing to share their experience with others can be especially helpful too.

The new year often signifies a period of reflection and forward planning, and we are hoping to introduce some future changes to the Support we can offer moving forward this year. We will of course share any news on developments with you here as soon as we can, and if you have any ideas about how we can provide more support please feel free to share them with us.

Many of the contacts we have via the Support Line can be about coping with uncertainty and change. One topic that comes up frequently is Advanced Care Planning. Planning can help ensure that our needs and wishes for future care are taken into consideration. If you are interested in Advance Care Planning you can read more here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/terminal-illness/planning-ahead/advance-care-planning

If this is something that you have talked about with loved ones or friends, can you offer any offer any words of wisdom or suggestions to help others do the same?

    Best Wishes

    Brigette
