Hi everyone. I am new to the group and am just looking for a bit of support and advice. I have just lost my gran recently to cancer, and I lost both my grandads a few months ago to cancer and a younger cousin as well to a heart condition. I would just like some advice on where to go for support as I am not sure what to do or where to go. I had never lost anyone in my family before and I have lost 4 people in the last 9 months so it has been a lot to take it. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you x

Hello Amy, thank you for joining our community. We’re sorry to read about all of your family losses in such a short space of time. It’s understandable that you say you’re not sure what to do or where to go. The important thing to remember is that there is not right or wrong way to grieve, and to let yourself do so for as long as you need to. We feature a page on our website that you may find helpful to take a look at about different ways you may be able to access support, you can read more about this here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/bereaved-family-friends/dealing-grief/bereavement-or-grief-counselling .

Here on the Support Line, we can offer practical information, emotional support and a listening ear. We’re not trained counsellors or therapists, but we are here to listen. Many people tell us that talking about how you’re feeling can be beneficial. You can reach us on Freephone 0800 090 2309, through our live chat function which you can find here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/marie-curie-support-line/using-online-chat . You can also get in touch by responding to this post.

Hopefully others here on the community will share with you what support has helped them when they lost a loved one.

    Take care,

Bonnie – Marie Curie Support Line Team
