Mum finally came home , she managed to hold on for two weeks, then passed away at home surrounded by her family. She had a difficult and painful death, and I will be forever traumatised by what I experienced watching her go through it. I can't believe that In this day and age people have to die like this.

    Hi Nicci1969,

We’re sorry to hear that your mum is still in hospital, particularly as you mentioned in your previous post that your wish is to bring her home. Seeing a loved one in hospital can understandably be an emotional time for family. Many people talk to us about their concerns around this and how they are feeling. We are here for you with a listening ear, whether here on the community, over the phone or via webchat – https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/marie-curie-support-line/using-online-chat

    Take care,

Thanks claire, finally had a meeting today regarding her discharge. Macmillan organising fast track continuing health care, and hospice support as soon as possible. Although time is running out now, she is very poorly, won't eat and is just giving up. It's awful to see.

    Hi Nicci1969,

Thank you for coming back to us and sharing further developments about your mum’s discharge, we hope this is all going as smooth as it can do for you and your mum. Watching a loved one’s health deteriorate can understandably be very difficult to see and if you need to talk about anything that’s happening, or how you’re feeling, please remember that our Support Line is here for you.

You mentioned in your comment that your mum is very poorly. If you have any questions about her current symptoms or anything that she’s experiencing, we would like to make you aware that we have Information and Support Nurses available Monday to Friday between the hours of 10am to 4pm. While our nurses are unable to offer advice, and won’t have access to your mum’s medical records, they can provide clinical information and support. If you feel this may be beneficial, you can call us on Freephone 0800 090 2309.

    Take care,

    Sam – Support Line Officer
