My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last year. She's been so strong and stoic through the last 12 months of treatment. Lately though she seems more tired and frail. I've been trying so hard to cope but family dynamics are a bit tricky at the moment and it's feeling very overwhelming at the moment. She is my best friend I'm feeling so scared at the thought of her not been around. I'm terrified I won't cope without her.

Good Morning Fiadh92, Thank you for sharing what you’re going through—it truly takes courage to open up about such a difficult time. It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when someone you love so dearly is unwell, especially with all the changes in family dynamics.

You clearly care for your mum so much, and she’s lucky to have you by her side. Everyone copes differently with uncertainty, and it’s okay to feel scared. Please remember to take care of yourself as well, and reach out for support whenever you need it—whether that’s talking with friends, connecting here, or seeking help from a counsellor. You can also use the Marie Curie Support Line that Yvonne shared.

You’re not alone, and many of us here understand how tough it can be. Sending warm thoughts and strength your way.
