In shock and scared

I am 48 with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. I was just turned down for a lung transplant and now I’m scared and can’t stop crying. I need to be there for my daughter as her dad has decided to announce he has a new girlfriend of all the times. I thought he would be here with us until the end as we discussed but that’s not the case. It’s irrational I know to expect that and I need to get on board with it because they will be looking after her when I’m gone. But I’m angry they will be happy having a life with my daughter whilst I won’t be here. And it’s made me feel even more scared and alone.

It’s understandable if you’re struggling after the difficult news the lung transplant won’t happen. Feeling upset and scared can be normal and it’s important to be gentle with yourself and reach out for help if you need it. This community is a safe space to share how you’re feeling or ask questions you’re worried about.

You also mentioned changes with your daughter’s father having a new girlfriend and how you had anticipated he would be there until the end. This isn’t easy either and can bring lots of intense emotions. Everyone wants to feel well supported when they are ill, it’s not easy managing feelings of fear and loneliness.
