My granda has battled lung cancer for over a year and other day he was told there's nothing can be done for him and he's been given 6-9 months. My Granny has turn to drink and isn't coping at all we tried talk to her but she's pushed everyone away and is being really nasty to my granda my mum is their only child and me and her don't know who to turn to

Hi Carrie,

I am sorry to hear of your Granddad’s ill health, this is a difficult time for the family; emotions seem to be running high. You say you gran is not coping with the situation and that she is pushing family away when they try to help, sadly this sort of reaction is not uncommon. Everybody copes in a different way and you may find the information here helpful. If you or your mum are concerned about the way your Granny is treating your Granddad than you may find it helpful to discuss your concerns with your GP, District Nurse or ourselves.
