It’s taken me a while to find a new job. I know my parents would be delighted for me but feel incredibly sad some mornings and guilty. Wondered if anyone else has experienced this?...

Hello Remadi,
Welcome to the Marie Curie online community. I’m sorry to read that both
your parents have died and that you’re experiencing feelings of guilt returning
to work after caring for them.
It can be normal to take time to adjust to life after caring for a loved
one. Returning to work can feel like a big adjustment and feelings of sadness
and guilt can be common when caring for a family member has been the focus of
your life. You may find it helpful to read some information that we have on our
website about life after caring which you can find here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/being-there/end-of-life-preparation/life-after-caring .
We hope that others on this community will share with you their own
personal experience and offer their support to you too.
Our Support Line is available to offer a listening ear if you would like
to talk about anything or how you’re feeling. We often hear that talking can be
a comfort and if you would find this beneficial, please get in touch on
Freephone 0800 090 2309. You can also respond to us through here if you would
prefer.
Take care,
Sam – Support Line Officer
