    Hi Linray,

I’m very sorry to hear about your dad’s illness.  He may be able to claim a benefit called Attendance Allowance. This is a benefit that can help with the extra costs of a disability or health condition if someone is aged 65 or over.  It’s paid because of the effect the illness or disability has on their everyday life, and how much care they need due to this. You can find out more about it including how to apply here - https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/money/benefits-entitlements/living-with-terminal-illness/attendance-allowance.

You may also find it useful to look at our information on help for older people - https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/money/benefits-entitlements/help-for-older-people . It can be helpful to get support from a benefits adviser. They would be able to check exactly what your dad is entitled to and help him make the applications – https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/money/benefits-entitlements/getting-help/benefits-adviser .

If you would like to talk about things in more detail please call our Free phone Support Line on 0800 090 2309, or drop us a line via Web Chat: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help

    Best Wishes
