My sister and I are nursing our mum at home, she was given the news on Christmas Eve that lung cancer had spread to the brain given a few weeks to live. Mum had three failed attempts to get a biopsy but as none were conclusive she couldn't get treatment of any kind. She a kind, witty, caring and clever 67 year old, with no other health problem or medication. We have found ourselves very alone and unable to get information on what's happening to our mUm and find google our only comfort as any health professional seems unwilling to say to us what any pains or declines we mention could be. We have never seen anyone die with cancer and each day brings a new challenge with very little support. We want to know why she is in the pain she is in, I'm lying beside her here listening to her groan with each breath and say over and over that she has a sore, sore stomach, it's real heartbreaking but each time we call the doctor they look at us as if well what am I expected to do here? Mums still completely lucid but her body is giving up we think. I'm going to contact M.Curie tomorrow and ask advice, I haven't tried this organisation but reading the site here gives me some hope.
