Welcome to the community and thank you for telling us a little about you. You story behind your train drivers career made me smile. Thank you for sharing. I hope you find the support you are looking for here on the Community and please feel free to post with us often as you wish and share as much or as little information as you are comfortable with.
How do you like your coffee? On cold damp days today my vote goes to an indulgent hot chocolate complete with marshmallows and cream ![]()

Hello It is such a relief to find a support group to ask ‘can you help me please’ ?. To keep it brief: Mum (83) Motor Neurone Disease, severly disabled. Discharged from hospital due to coronavirus, should be at home with me. Nursing home applied for DOLS. Mum deteriorating fast in hospital. Mum in receipt of Continuing Healthcare funding. Mum in receipt of palliative care and dying. Best Interest Meeting -hospital - home + funding. 3 months waiting to return home from hospital. Desperate for mum to die at home and fast. Julie.
Sorry, should read mum deteriorating fast in nursing home.
Hi Juliette,
I am sorry to read about everything you and your mum are experiencing. I am not legally trained but I can share with you some information that we have about DOLS here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/terminal-illness/rights/deprivation-of-liberty
What we can do is to provide you with a safe space to talk about the impact that this is having on your and about how you are feeling.
If anybody reading this can offer Juliette any further information or support then please do respond to this post.
Take care

Bridgette You are so kind. Thank you so much for the information. It is very interesting and I do believe that knowledge is power. I have just face timed my lovely mum and my heart is breaking to see her suffer so, it is the cruelty of the mental anguish and the expression in her eyes is utter despair. Take care Juliette
Hi Juliette
it is heartwarming to read that you have been able to facetime with your mum today but it sounds bittersweet. If you want to use this space to share your feelings please feel free to do so,but also be aware that the Support Line is open until 5 today if you want to talk things through.
Take care- Brigette
Hello Brigette I will telephone the Support Line thank you and I apologise for mis-spelling your name. Kind regards Juliette
