Feel good movies

Sister Act is on at the moment. Miracle on 43rd street 1994. Indispensable morale maintenance. I think there may be lots of people who enjoy them particularly at the difficult time. Nominations? I have a recently diagnosed OGJA. Not Yogja - lovely Jogyjarkta in Indonesia. As Google suggested…

Tonight’s nomination the History Boys. I’m a fan of Allan Bennet- I enjoyed his 90th birthday film. Valedictory, observational and aware of mortality.

Hello there Peter,

I truly believe that you are on to something important with ‘movies’. I like how you call it ‘indispensable morale maintenance’. To have a medium which supports people at difficult times is of great value! Out of the films you mention, I have seen ‘Sister act’ which I recall, nearly had me in tears of laughter. Any recent nominations? Recently watching a movie for the first time in ages, I was awed by ‘I swear’ - you may hear about it, it addresses the condition ‘Tourette’s syndrome’ and is a moving watch indeed. It is amazing the power of film and multi media and how this can encourage thought, dialogue and new understanding.

Best regards,

Paulette

My cousin vinny I thought was a good one! They did a sequel to sister act, but I don’t think it was as successful….

Bless you Paulette. Popped back this evening with a double bill of Shrek. Resuming

Hello PeterM,

A double bill of Shrek! Michael Myers voice is captivating…but that donkey wins the show perhaps…? I didn’t realise the 5th film is the next release. Maybe they should have stopped at 3? What do you think? Can the magic be ongoing?

I must say, I love this post! Especially now as the weather is getting colder and it’s officially cosy season!! I don’t know if it’s my inner child but Paddington is absolutely fantastic. It’s easy to watch and just all round good family fun. If you’ve not watched it, I recommend.

Jenny91 - thank you for that recommendation of Paddington! Yes, cosy season is upon us again with easy watching so very welcome. As Christmas approaches, there will no doubt be a host of feel good films, where we can tune in and hopefully even laugh out loud. A personal favorite is ‘Peter rabbit’! Tapping into the inner child can be so beneficial.

I love Peter Rabbit too , tempted to go and see Paddington at the Theater  The Pursuit of Happiness popped up on my screen yesterday, might re-watch it again soon

LuminousO,

Paddington at the theatre sounds amazing! This cute little bear has stood the test of time for sure. Do you often re-watch movies? I sometimes find something I missed the first time around…

Oooh yes! Peter rabbit is another feel good, rainy day classic. Great pick!
