A warm welcome

Hello everyone :slightly_smiling_face:, My name is Ope! I’m really pleased to have joined the Marie Curie Online Community as a volunteer. A little about me: I first experienced bereavement as a young child, having lost both of my parents before I became a teenager. More recently, I’ve lost two close family members to terminal illnesses. These experiences have shaped me deeply, and I know how much difference care, kindness, and understanding can make. I hope to be able to support others here in whatever way I can — by listening, sharing, and simply being present. I’m looking forward to getting to know the community and learning from all of you. Warm Regards, Ope

Hello there Ope! Welcome to the community! I’m sorry for your experiences with bereavement but really admire that you are using your insight to support others. ‘Simply being present’ is of such value to others. Knowing that you are not alone can can be a great source of comfort.

Warm regards

Paulette

Thank you Paulette, I see we’re fellow volunteers- I look forward to getting to know you :hugs:

Dear Ope,

A warm welcome also from me, another fellow-volunteer on the Online Community team! It is great to have you on board.

Thank you for the introduction and sharing your experiences. I am really sorry to hear that you lost your parents so young, and that you have further lost two family members only recently. It sounds like your experiences, and your compassion that has turned your grief into volunteering, will add another valuable voice to the increasingly diverse team. Thank you!

Best wishes,

Anke
