Would you like to help?

Hello everyone,

A survey has been launched this week to bring together organisations, individuals with breast cancer, carers and clinicians to identify their research priorities in the field of breast cancer surgery by Association of Breast Surgery with the Breast Cancer Surgery Priority Setting Partnership it is undertaking with the James Lind Alliance

They are looking to identify some of the unanswered questions about breast cancer surgery and to gain a good idea of what knowledge and support would make a difference to the quality of life of breast cancer patients

The topics that are being covered are:

· Identification and management of women at increased risk of breast cancer

· Assessment, diagnosis and choice of initial treatment for women with breast cancer

· Surgical techniques, technologies and devices, including questions about breast conservation (breast preserving surgery) and breast reconstruction

· Interactions between surgery and other treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy

· Quality of life issues (in both the short and long term) related to the surgery for breast cancer

The survey will take just 5 minutes to complete and is open to anyone with a personal or professional connection to breast cancer surgery. The goal is to increase government funding for breast cancer surgery research and the process has a track record of success, incentivising researchers to respond to patient priorities and bringing greater cohesion amongst organisations.

For further information and to complete the survey please see the ABS website: https://associationofbreastsurgery.org.uk/professionals/research/breast-cancer-surgery-priority-setting-partnership/

Many thanks to anyone who would like to take part.

Take care & stay safe,

Hannah - Support Line Officer.
