Struggling to cope.

I lost my mum in February this year. She’d been battling cancer for over a year but lost her battle at the young age of 49. I know it’s only been just over 2 months but I’m really beginning to struggle. I don’t know where to go or who to turn too.

Hello Sammyash

I’m sorry to read about the recent loss of your mum at such a young age.

Adapting to life without a loved one can be a challenge and everyone copes with their loss differently. There is no right or wrong way to grieve but acknowledging when you are struggling can be the first step to finding and accessing support.

It’s important to know that you don’t have to go through bereavement alone and we often hear that knowing who you can talk to or get support from can be a comfort during this difficult time. We have information on our website about getting support that you may find useful to take a look at here: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/bereaved-family-friends/dealing-grief/bereavement-or-grief-counselling .

We’re aware of another organisation called Cruse. Cruse are there to offer bereavement support and advice over the telephone, via email and face to face. People often tell us that talking aloud or sharing experiences can help. https://www.cruse.org.uk/cruse-areas-and-branches .
