I lost my mum on 1 Feb after she battled cancer for years. Mostly I’m ok, I cried a lot when I recurved the news but mostly cope in the day as I have two young children, who keep me busy. I have started getting panic attacks while driving. Will this pass or should I see a GP?

I am sorry to read about the recent death of your mum. Crying is a normal reaction to grief and can be a perfect stress relief. Many people tell us that talking can help. We information about grief which you may find helpful here: [https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/bereaved-family-friends/dealing-grief/grieving-your-way](https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/help/support/bereaved-family-friends/dealing-grief/grieving-your-way)

We are not medically trained here at the Support Line so I cannot say if your panic attacks will pass. I am aware of a good factsheet about panic attacks which you can find here:[https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/anxiety-and-panic-attacks/panic-attacks/#.Wo6FmoPFJpg](https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/anxiety-and-panic-attacks/panic-attacks/#.Wo6FmoPFJpg). It has lots of self-care tips and useful contacts. However as always it might be a good idea to discuss this with your GP, if you are concerned or if it is happening regularly whilst you are driving.

On our support line, we can offer a listening ear if you ever need to talk to someone. You can get in touch with us with by calling Freephone 0800 090 2309, or drop us a line via Web Chat:
